Brewers soar past Jets for 3rd win of season

Newton Abbot Brewers kicked their single A division challenge off with a 31-15 win over the Weston Jets. In a game that went to 9 innings, both teams took the lead multiple times and unto the top of the 5th inning the Jets looked like they were starting to run away with the game, that was till the Brewers made a pitching change and brought in First baseman Charlie Capener who pitched the last 4 and 1/3 innings giving up just 4 hits, 1 walk and 0 runs! whilst also striking out 9 of the Jets batters. it was a hard fought game but the Brewers eventually ran out winners, Brewers Right Fielder Jamie Smith led the day on the offensive side of things, he led the Brewers with 6 hits whilst bringing in 4 runs and touching home plate 5 times himself. Everyone on the Brewers got on base and touched home at one point or another. The umpires today were John Anderson behind the plate and Frazer Thomas as the field umpire, the game without them would not have happened so a massive thanks to both of them. The Brewers hope this is just the start of their single A campaign with more wins to come. They travel to Cardiff next Sunday to face the Merlins and hope for their second win. Im sure all the Brewers from today will be resting up plenty for the next couple days till their training session. Don't forget to join us next week and till then keep Swinging, Fielding, Throwing and Running and don't forget to join us next time for more Brewers Baseball.
